The knowledge management tool has very little to do with knowledge. Really it has to do with wisdom. To understand this, I must talk more about processes by which it encourage us to undertake.

The function of knowledge management tool is to pass on knowledge. That is, it gives knowledge by telling us on what to think. By recognizing and assimilating that by turning our emphasis around on what to think and seeking reinforcements by developing our knowing, critical thinking, reviewing, problem solving, and reasoning processes to learn on how to think with knowledge, we can be effective relative to obtain wisdom. Really we are supposed to develop our ability to discern, know, learn, understand, and create knowledge (our own truth and/or our take on the facts) to obtain wisdom. By having wisdom, we can put knowledge into practice and encourage others to look at moving on to find (achieve) meaning.

Failure to develop our ability to discern, know, learn, understand, and create knowledge will lead us to ignorance. Note ignorance will hurt us, if not others, if the domain of knowledge in question is essential to, integral attribute to, and/or part of our own unique situation.

To combat ignorance, we need to get away from it. As example, below are types of employees ridden with Ignorance.

Perfectionists – They have their own set of problems that they cannot let go off. Usually they always find ways to tweak their projects, that is, they take a lot of time to complete it. Meaning, they show complete ignorance about the requirements of the organization – they failed to balance quality and business needs. It is best to educate and give them a deadline and make them stick to it.

Pessimists – They are negative employees. For them, nothing is correct.

Criticizers – They are critical and extremely negative; they transfer their anxieties to others; they make themselves feel better by criticizing others; they are famous for making fun of other employees, and pick up fights without any reason; and they create an atmosphere of black cloud in the office. As a manager or supervisor, you can deal with such employees by helping them to find their good points, where they are strong. It is also helpful to create an area that they can start taking a charge of. This will help them in developing positive attitude.

Dictators – They can be highly ignorant and very difficult to deal with. And, if you let them, they will walk all over the office. The first and foremost thing is to keep a control over them and not allow them to bog others down. Such individuals would try to interfere with the work of others, showing complete Ignorance for position. In such a situation, you need to make clear to them that you are well aware of how to handle your job.

Others – They are found in different forms, such as: Arrogance, demeaning behavior, aggressiveness, insubordinate, demanding, untrustworthy and unproductive.
